It is now UK law that au pairs should be paid in line with the UK National Minimum Wage.

Sample weekly gross minimum rates for live in au pairs/childcarers:

Minimum Weekly Pay for 18-20 Year Old Au Pair/Live in Child carer:

25 hours per week: £8.60 times 25 minus £69.93 = £145.07
30 hours per week:  £8.60 times 30 minus £69.93 = £188.07
35 hours per week: £8.60 times 35 minus £69.93 = £231.07

Hourly Rate: £8.60

Minimum Weekly Pay for 21+ Year Old Au Pair/Live in Child carer: 

25 hours per week: £11.44 times 25 minus £69.93 = £ 216.07
30 hours per week: £11.44 times 30 minus £69.93 = £273.27
35 hours per week: £11.44 times 35 minus £69.93 = £330.47

Hourly Rate: £11.44
